INDUSTRY WEEK: the president of the Argentine Industrial Union, Daniel Funes de Rioja, shared the balance of the commemorative activities that included the participation of the UIA. The federal agenda included the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Salta and Santiago del Estero - which brought together the provinces that make up the Union of Industries of Northern Argentina (UNINOA) -. Authorities from the UIA Executive Committee, regional and sectoral partners, governors, national officials and industrial entrepreneurs from all over the country participated in the different events. In addition, the main guidelines and the preliminary work agenda for the relaunch of the Department of Education and Vocational Training were presented. Juan Pablo Dri (President); Daniel Laco (Vice President); Juana Torresín (Secretary) and Alejandro Pedrosa (President Training Committee(Professional and Technology) will be the new authorities of the area.
For his part, Funes de Rioja highlighted the main conclusions of the virtual seminar organized together with the B20, which included the participation of the Chair of the B20 for Italy, Emma Marcegaglia; the Argentine ambassador to the United States and G20 sherpa, Jorge Argüello and the secretary of Foreign Affairs and sub-sherpa of the G20, Pablo Tettamanti. During the webinar, the public policy recommendations that the private sector will deliver to the G20 authorities at the October summit, to be held in Italy, were analyzed.
Finally, Funes de Rioja will participate tomorrow in the presentation of the bill to promote hydrocarbon investments called by the president of the nation, Alberto Fernández, and the secretary of energy, Darío Martínez. Likewise, she will be present at the plenary meeting of the Education, Labor and Production Council, convened by the Ministry of Education.
INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY, EMPLOYMENT and EXPORTS: the Study Center presented the recent indicators of industrial activity and employment. In addition, the results of the third quarterly survey of companies were released, focused on issues linked to exports and new markets. The survey identified a series of opportunities and challenges to consolidate the international insertion of the productive sector. Companies indicated that they have the potential to increase their exports – in volume (56.4% of companies), in number of destinations (55.7%) and in variety of products (50.9%) –. The survey also identified that the main attractions for which companies/priProducts that could be inserted are personalized attention (87.1%) and product design/differentiation (79.7%). However, the greatest concern for international insertion are the macroeconomic aspects (53.2% of companies indicated this aspect as the main limitation to consolidate exports over time). SECTOR AND REGIONAL CURRENT NEWS: The sector and regional representatives addressed the evolution of activity during the month of August, as well as the agenda of topics on which work is being done to promote investment, access to SME financing and formality - by virtue of mitigating the negative impact that the informal sector has on competitionitivity-. In addition, concern was expressed about the increase in gross income at the provincial level and the progressive overlap of municipal taxes. Finally, the problem of the extra cost of maritime freight in international trade was addressed, which is estimated to take at least two years to return to pre-pandemic prices. Another issue with an impact on the sector is the difficulty in obtaining containers, since it generates many tensions in global supply chains, in addition to affecting Argentine export potential.
INDUSTRIA INSPIRA:the series of talks “Industria Inspira” will be launched tomorrow. The UIA Joven initiative seeks to provide tools, experiences and visions to young people who are training in technical schools. The president of UIA Joven, Tomás Karagozian; the executive directorivo of INET, Diego Golombek, and three young people linked to technical education - who today carry out ventures based on technological innovation - will be the protagonists of the first meeting, called “Young Future”.
