UIA AGENDA: The president of the UIA, Daniel Funes de Rioja, reported the activities that had the participation of the entity during the last weeks - the meeting of the board of directors of the Argentine Federation of the Wood Industry and Related (FAIMA), the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Industrial Union of Córdoba (UIC) -. The federal agenda of the institution will continue this Friday, in the meeting with businessmen from the Industrial Union of Salta (UIS). In addition, other institutional activities of which the UIA was a part were reviewed – the International Advocacy Caucus (the high-level groupput by the main business leaders of the G20 countries) and the preparatory meeting for the XXI Inter-American Conference of Ministers of Labor of the OAS, among others.
INDUSTRY DAY AND 27TH INDUSTRIAL CONFERENCE: In the continuity of the UIA federal agenda, the commemoration of Industry Day will take place on September 2 in the city of Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos. In addition, it was confirmed that the 2021 edition of the Industrial Conference will take place on December 1 and 2. On this occasion, the thematic panels will be organized around a productive agenda that enhances MERCOSUR as a platform for Argentine exports of value to the world. The president of the Conference will be Luis Tendlarz (vice president UIA), while the young presidency will be led by María Furtado (pro-secretary UIA Joven).
LABOR AGENDA: The Department of Social Policy presented the set of issues that are being worked on and of concern to the sector – bills on joint committees, reduced working hours and parental leave. This set of issues is being managed before the National Government, the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Nation. On the other hand, it was agreed that, to promote the recovery of formal employment and advance productivity, it is a priority to find a gradual exit from the current labor restrictions. In light of the new DNU 494/21 and Resolution 269/21 of the Ministry of Transportation, which allows the use of public passenger transportation in those jurisdictions that are not in a state of epidemiological alarm, the need toadapt local regulations and the CUIDAR application to ensure the correct functioning of passenger services.
INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY AND EMPLOYMENT: the Study Center presented the work methodology with which it will prepare the document “Proposals for federal, sustainable and inclusive productive development.” Together with the different productive regions, work will be done on tax and financial axes, industry 4.0 and sustainable production, education and employability, export promotion, SME and business development and infrastructure for competitiveness. On the other hand, the CEU analyzed the recently published indicators of industrial activity and employment. Regarding production, in June there was a monthly increase, after the restrictions in May. Regarding industrial employment, during May 2021 it remainedthe rise with a certain slowdown due to the restrictions within the framework of the second wave of Covid. In addition, the call to participate in the third quarterly business survey was announced, which will focus on issues linked to exports.
SECTORAL AND REGIONAL CURRENT NEWS:Sectoral and regional representatives addressed the evolution of activity in the last month and the agenda for the last quarter of 2021 – productive financing, SME, labor and tax agendas, among others –. On the other hand, concern was expressed about the logistical inconveniences caused by the force measure of self-convened transporters in different parts of the country.
UIA SEMINARS:Next Thursday, 08/12, the webinar presented by the Pla will be heldn of National Energy Efficiency (PlaNEEAr) for the industrial sector – carried out on the basis of the European Union Cooperation Project and developed with the Secretariat of Energy together with the sectoral chambers with the support of UIA and the Bariloche Foundation–. On the other hand, also next Thursday will be the launch of the “Synergy Program” – which is carried out together with SEPYME, the R&D&i Agency, INTI and BNA-Empretec. One of the objectives of the initiative is to promote ventures in the industrial sector, the knowledge economy –based on 4.0 technologies–, as well as its links with existing companies and the innovation ecosystem.
