On June 18, 1943, what was called at that time the “Chamber of Metallurgical Industrialists” of Rosario was established and in 1967 it acquired the status of a second-degree entity, changing the name to the Association of Metallurgical Industrialists. p>
From the Constitutive Assembly I want to rescue the spirit of commitment, solidarity and professionalism of those who promoted our institution.
We read in the founding document that the newly appointed president - Mr. Hildo Storni - made available a typewriter, a desk and an armchair, to have the first work items. And that the founding partners assumed to pay a monthly fee of $5, which would also be contributed by the companies that associate. Likewise, they decided to hire an employee to handle the daily management: this is howThey earned a salary of $50.
And in that founding Assembly the first resolution was also taken: the study commission was appointed that would make medical assistance possible for workers and their families.
That was the attitude that defined the founders of our institution and that continues to guide us today: concern for our employees and their families, personal commitment in the search for the common good, the professionalization of business union action for the joint resolution of the challenges that each era poses to us.
In the first Assembly there were Storni, Daumas, Borghi, Preumayr, Galve, Rolle, Torrente, Baronio, Valenti, Hancevic, Gueiler, Frezza, Peña, Benítez, Rainoldi, Sívori, Rosenthal... Throughout these eight decades they passed hundreds, thousands of leaders, whose memory today we honor and thanks his dedication, his effort, his tenacity. Also because of them, the metallurgical industry remained one of the most thriving sectors in this region of the country, a source of quality employment and social progress.
It is up to us to continue this legacy. We have challenges as clear as they are urgent: defending the national industry in dialogue with the leaders of our society; further improve the training and qualification of operators, middle managers and leaders; assist our companies with services and benefits consistent with the times we live in.
I invite you to toast this anniversary and to continue working committedly for our industry, our city and our region.
