INFORMATION FOR THE PRESS - UIA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
UIA ACTIVITIES: the president of the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA), Daniel Funes de Rioja, shared a report on the institutional activities of recent weeks. Among them, the working meetings with the ministers of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Santiago Cafiero, and of Environment and Sustainable Development, Juan Cabandié; the visit to the Inter-American Council of Commerce and Production (CICYP) by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Juan Manzur; participation in the “XIII Private Sector Forum of the Americas” of the Organization of American States (OAS); and the meeting with the president of the National Confederation of Industry of Brazil (CNI), Robson Braga de Andrade, by virtue of his participation in the next Industrial Conference p>.
INDUSTRY CONFERENCE: “Exporting Argentine Value: keysfor a productive MERCOSUR” will take place on December 1 and 2, at the Golden Center complex in Parque Norte (CABA). The thematic panels of the 27th Industrial Conference will have as their axis a productive agenda that strengthens MERCOSUR as a platform for Argentine exports of value to the world. The president of the Conference, Luis Tendlarz, and the young president of the Conference, María Furtado, reported on the latest news of the event. Within the framework of “Heading to the 27th Industrial Conference”, the last two federal meetings will be held in Córdoba (11/18) and Catamarca / UNINOA (11/23). MEETING WITH THE MINISTER OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT: Funes de Rioja received the ministro of Social Development, Juan Zabaleta. During the working breakfast, the different initiatives that are being carried out to link training and employability were analyzed. In addition, there was agreement on the importance of moving towards making social programs compatible with formal employment. The technical teams of the UIA and the Ministry of Social Development will continue working on the agenda of topics that were discussed at this morning's meeting.
ENVIRONMENTAL AGENDA: the Department of Environment and Sustainable Development made a presentation on the aspects of the bill “Minimum environmental protection budgets for the comprehensive management of packaging and inclusive recycling” that negatively impact the productive sector -among them, the lack of sectoral representation in the standard, the absenceia of an approach that allows the construction of a more integrated circular economy as proposed by the industrial sector and the creation of new tax impositions that affect industrial activity. The representatives of the Board of Directors agreed on the importance of giving participation to the productive sector in the debate of the bill to generate a scheme that sustainably promotes the circular economy and does not generate new cost overruns that affect the competitiveness of the sector. In order to generate a contribution to the parliamentary debate, the Ten Points of Consensus were presented for a regulation with a broad perspective and the analysis report of the bill.
SECTORAL AND REGIONAL CURRENT NEWS:the sectoral and regional representatives analyzed the evolution of the activityity and projections for the last two months of the year. In addition, the impact of issues linked to investment incentives, access to SME financing, the increase in logistics costs and international freight and the loss of competitiveness compared to the informal economy, among others, was addressed.
