New meeting for the progress of the Rosario International Airport "Islas Malvinas"
A new meeting was held at theRosario International Airport (AIR), which was attended by representatives of almost all the entities involved in the airport development projects. On behalf of the Association of Metallurgical Industrialists of Rosario, Engineer Guillermo Barenboim attended.
At the meeting of the Rosario International Airport Advisory Commission, the progress of the works and the work carried out in recent months were announced. It was highlighted that the second part of the original construction plan is close to being completed, which will allow the new facilities to be enabled in a few months.
Regarding cargo transportation, it is being analyzed with two airliness the possibility of bringing goods from abroad without passing through Ezeiza. The construction of a 1,700 m² fiscal warehouse is being evaluated to optimize this service. The cargo subcommittee, together with AIM, will study expansion opportunities.
In addition, they reported that a protective eave 270 meters long and 6 meters wide will be built, which will connect the new part with the current one, providing protection to passengers on rainy days. The airport will also have two sleeves already installed, main halls connected by escalators and a capacity to accommodate 440 passengers simultaneously.
In relation to the runways, it was noted that within 230 days the repair of the surfaces will be completed with a new asphalt layer, taking advantage of the existing concrete base.
In terms of international connectivity, starting in December there will be 10 weekly flights to Panama, three to the Caribbean and five to Brazil. In January, direct flights to Lima (Peru) with a stopover in Santiago (Chile) will be added. Domestic flights will also be expanded to new cities in the interior of the country.
Finally, the provincial road work was mentioned to improve and expand the layout of the road that connects the airport with the city, as well as the proposal to extend and widen the direct access to the airport from the highway to Córdoba, through from the current access through Mendoza Street.
