The general level of the internal wholesale price index (IPIM) registered an increase of 3.7% in September 2020 compared to the previous month. This variation is explained as a consequence of the 3.7% increase in “Domestic products” and 3.5% in “Imported products”. On the other hand, the general level of the basic domestic wholesale price index (IPIB) showed an increase of 4.0% in the same period. In this case, the variation is explained by the 4.1% increase in “Domestic products” and 3.5% in “Imported products”. Likewise, the general level of the basic producer price index (IPP) registered an increase of 4.5% in the same period, as a consequence of therise of 5.8% in “Primary Products” and 3.9% in “Manufactured Products and Electrical Energy”.
CONCLUSIONS
The increase in wholesale prices continues, which we remember subsequently impacts retailers. Whichever we choose, the increase compared to the previous month is between 3.9 and 4 percent.
Beyond the average are metal products except machinery and equipment and furniture and other industrial products.
But these observations, given the current situation at the end of October, are relatively valid and it will be necessary to see how the problem of exchange rates is resolved in order to observe a trend in wholesale prices. From the observed data they increase regardless of the measurement.
